Windows and credits

Credits are how a fee becomes something you own. This page explains exactly how they are calculated, because the fairness of the whole system lives here.

Windows

A window is one hour, from the top of one hour to the top of the next (UTC). At the moment a window closes, the ledger:

  1. Totals the fees that arrived in the vault during that hour.
  2. Works out each wallet's time-weighted average balance for the hour.
  3. Splits the fees: 80% to credits, 20% to the pool.
  4. Distributes the credits share to eligible wallets in proportion to their time-weighted balance.
  5. Records the result, publishes a fingerprint of the snapshot, and moves on.

The Ledger on the site shows the current window number and a countdown to its close.

Time-weighted average balance

Your share of a window is based on how much you held and for how long during that hour, not on a snapshot at a single moment.

If you hold 10,000 $POMY for the whole hour, your time-weighted balance is 10,000. If you buy 10,000 at :58 and sell at :02, you held for two minutes out of sixty, so your time-weighted balance is about 333. You earn roughly 1/30th of what a full-hour holder with the same balance earns.

This removes the obvious exploit of buying just before a snapshot and selling just after. It also means selling mid-window is fair in both directions: you are paid for the minutes you held.

Your share

Within a window, credits are shared pro rata by time-weighted balance. If your time-weighted balance is 1% of the total eligible time-weighted balance, you receive 1% of that hour's credits share. There is no tier bonus, no lock-up multiplier and no referral boost. Holding more, for longer, earns more, linearly.

Every wallet's share is rounded to the cent using a largest-remainder method so that the sum of all credits equals the credits share exactly. No cents are created or lost.

Eligibility within a window

A wallet earns from a window if, at the moment the window closes, its holding is worth at least $50 at the current price. Wallets below the floor are excluded from that window and their weight is redistributed to everyone else. The following are always excluded and their weight redistributed: the liquidity pool, the fee escrow, the vault itself, burn addresses, and program-owned accounts (PDAs). See Eligibility and rules.

Where credits live

Credits are a dollar-denominated balance in POMY's ledger, shown in your profile. They are not a token and cannot be transferred, sold or withdrawn as cash. They exist to be spent on cards. Unspent credits carry forward indefinitely while the service operates.

The rate

The site shows the live rate as dollars per $1,000 held per hour, derived from the most recently closed window: that window's credits share divided by the total eligible dollar value held, times 1,000. It changes every hour with volume. It is displayed, never promised.

Why the ledger is off-chain

Paying thousands of wallets fractions of a cent every hour as on-chain transactions would be slow and costly, and would burn the fees on gas. So hourly accounting is done in POMY's database. To keep that honest, every draw publishes the snapshot it was drawn from and the random seed used, so anyone can reproduce the result. See The draw and Reproducing a window.
